What's ruining the world right now (and for the past few thousand years)

Just wanted to drop some thoughts. Whether they're right or wrong is up to you.

1)Why is it that the beliefs of certain shepherds and a lengthy book they wrote somehow justify an irredentist claim to a patch of the middle east?

So if you put a claim to real property in writing, and claim "god" endorsed it, that's legally (or more accurately, politically) actionable?

Ok, I can do it too. I want Manhattan. God said so.

There, that should increase my standard of living by orders of magnitude.

2)Why is it that the beliefs of certain disciples who followed a man who, by modern scientific standards, was clearly insane (today we wouldn't crucify someone who claimed to be the son of "god," we'd give them medication and possibly a stay in a rubber room) have spread throughout the mind of humanity like a virus, bringing violent death, intolerance and moral corruption with it?

If Christianity is right, and true believers in Christ obtain everlasting salvation, then count me out. I'd rather not spend eternity with the religious right.

Good thing it's wrong.

3)I'm not going to say anything about Islam. I'd rather stay unmurdered.

That's it for now. Hope you had fun!
